12 barrel bombs hit besieged town of Daraya: local council

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Syrian regime helicopters on Sunday have dropped 12 barrel bombs on the besieged town of  Daraya west, rebel council said.

Daraya Local Council said regime helicopters dropped 12 explosive barrels on Sunday and another 8 more in conjunction with regime forces’ attempt to storm the city from the west southern axis.

Local Council stated that 100 explosive barrels were dropped during the past three days following entrance of food aid on Thursday, the first aid to enter Daraya in 3 years. But Daraya activists said the distribution of aid did not start due to ongoing air strikes by regime forces.

Daraya has more than 2000 children under age of 15 living mostly in basements to ward off air bombings. They were deprived from their basic rights. Regime in its imposed blockade on the city banned food and medications from entering. (Translation by Rana Abdul)
