(Zaman Al Wasl)- Syrian regime announced this week formation of new militia with high incentives and salaries under name of 'Homat Syria', or Syria Patrons, pro-media outlets said.

Activists supported Bashar al-Assad said a recruiting center were opened in Qerdaha, Assad's hometown.

An opposition figure from Alawite sect considered this step as another attempt of Hussein al-Assad to build his own glory from the Syrian war and form his own militias like Hilal al-Assad and Ayman Jaber, beside the money he would receive from Rami Makhlouf and his Bostan association and from Iran.

Many loyalists from the coast expressed their sarcasm to the announcement and considered it as another attempt by the regime to push the rest of Alawite youth in the Syrian war that has killed significant number of Alawite young men over 5 years.

The activist who talked on condition of anonymity for security reasons expected failure to the attempt to form the new militias, because most young men in the coast are not convinced in participating in such militias.

Militias are the most important forces regime relied on during the war against rebels. in the beginning the National Defense Forces were formed in the beginning of the war, then Soqour al-Sahra, Dera’a al-Sahel, Maghawir al-Baher and al-Baath battalions.

Moreover, the regime have brought militias of foreigners like Hezbollah, Lebanese militias supported by Iran, besides the Iraqi militias of Abo al-Fadel al-Abbas and Asayeb al-Haq, the Afghani militias of Fatimyon and Pakistani militias of Zanabiyon.
