ISIS killed 60 regime troops east of Homs: sources

(Zaman Al Wasl)- At least 60 Syrian troops killed last Wednesday in Islamic State attacks near the ancient city of Palmyra, field sources said as regime media outlets deliberately avoid to mention regime casualties.

The high death toll came when ISIS suicide bombers rocked regime bastions near Ark oil well, 40 km northeast Palmyra.

Despite Russian aerial back up, regime forces have failed to expel ISIS fighters from the eastern countryside of Homs city. The leaked reports assured that even Palmyra victory and recapturing the city was coordinated with ISIS, activists said.

Local activists said 25 unidentified militiamen loyal to Bashar al-Assad were buried in al-Ferdous cemetery near Homs. Activists mounted 200 militants have been buried in two months.

-Assad departure not changed-

There are no U.S. proposals to include members of the Syrian opposition in the government of al-Assad, a U.S. official said on Friday, in a denial of comments by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Reuters reported.

"There is no such proposal," said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, adding that U.S. policy on Assad's departure has not changed.

He noted the 2012 Geneva Communique calls for "a transitional governing body, formed by mutual consent, with full executive powers," a policy Washington argues means Assad

must go because the opposition will never accept his staying.
