U.S.-backed forces take village from ISIS near Manbij: activists

(Zaman Al Wasl)- The U.S.-backed Syria Democratic Forces (SDF) seized control of al-Khataf village east of Manbij city in northern Aleppo province following fierce battles with Islamic State,
media activists said Saturday.

Head of Media Committee for Council of Trustees of the Syrian Revolution Abdul Monem al-Abed said
SDF had also captured al-Nawajeh big area north of al-Ghanam bazar south of Aleppo-Hasaka highway.

He clarified that US-backed SDF alliance captured al-Asadiye and al-Matahen.

SDF tried to advance towards the main square then to the north of the autostrada, but ISIS sent a car bomb to counter the offensive on al-Matahen Square. The International alliance targeted the square and SDF withdrew. The square and main road is a clashes line from two sides.

SDF covered by International alliance air force advanced from Haj Abdeen village south west of Manbij and from Khareejeh village north west, but ISIS again recpatured the Sharia school. However, ISIS fronts retreated north of the city, al-Abed added.

Tens of thousands of civilians live inside besieged Manbij amid difficult human conditions due to severe shortage of flour and cut of power, water and fuel.

Kurdish Asayish militia the security wing of People’s Democratic Party PYD announced the killing of 5 of its member during SDF backing up in Manbij battle against ISIS despite that Asayish is not part of the SDF alliance.
