(Zaman Al Wasl)- Syria Democratic Forces (SDF) on Sunday have captured ground surrounding the ISIS-controlled city of Manbij in Aleppo province, the U.S.-backed alliance said in statement.
The Syrian Observatory for human Rights said violent battles are taking place in Sawame area south of Manbij after ISIS violent offensive attempting to capture the area which permitted SDF to control the fire in half of the city.
The clashes were in conjunction with International alliance air strikes on ISIS locations and in surrounding of Sawame. A young man was killed by SDF shooting on outskirts of Manbij, activists reported.
US-back SDF alliance started on May 31 an offensive to capture ISIS-controlled Manbij since 2014. 10 days ago SDF circled the city and cut ISIS supply roads to other areas.
Manbij, al-Bab and Jarablus on the borders of Turkey are ISIS most important locations in Aleppo province. Manbij has a strategic importance since it lies on the main supply road for ISIS towards Raqqa, ISIS headquarters. (Translation by Rana Abdul)
