(Zaman Al Wasl)- Syrian regime and Russian forces launched more than 100 air strikes on Saturday on al-Mallah area in Aleppo countryside, local sources reported.
Local reporter said the regime fighter jets and its Russian allies launched over 100 airstrikes one points controlled by the rebels during a period that does not exceed 3 hours forcing them to withdraw before the land troops could encircle al-Jaami area in al-Mallah which overlooks the Castello road.
Rebel factions were able to control strategic positions important to break the siege of Aleppo before they were forced to withdraw under the heavy air raids.
Zaman al-Wasl’s correspondent in Aleppo said that rebels were forced to withdraw from the area of al-Jaami, the southern hill that overlooks Castello road which is considered one of the last land routes linking Aleppo city with its countryside.
The factions fighting in Aleppo province have announced on Saturday start of battle against the regime and the militias supporting it in the area of al-Mallah and close to Castello road with the aim of maintaining the only route into the city and to end the siege of the city that hosts 350 thousand persons.
The source, spoke on condition of anonymity, demanded via Zaman al-Wasl platform that civilians do not use Castello road because it is being observed completely and cannot be passed under any circumstances in a bid to ensure civilians’ safety.
