Regime forces fail to recapture Kansaba in Latakia province

(Zaman Al-Wasl)- Media accounts loyal to Bashar al-Assad, reported dozens of army troops have been killed on Sunday near Kansaba town in Latakia province.

Mohammed al-Naji, correspondent of Latakia Media Network has detailed that the regime had resumed its attack for the second day this Sunday on Kansaba area and surrounding villages in the south and west using heavy weapon and under air coverage.

The correspondent mentioned that battles took place in the village of Shalaf and its castle at the entrance of Kansaba area lasted for 6 hours and resulted in huge defeat of the regime an its supporting militias and was forced to withdraw to its previous sites without achieving any advance.

A commander in the First Coastal troupe talked on condition of anonymity detailed the progress of battles saying: “the regime forces tried to sneak to Kansaba through Basoor mountain and Majdal Kikhya valley and Akko route to the village of Shalaf and its castle, where rebels were ready for them and heavy clashes took place between both sides where the regime forces had had too much losses estimated by dozens of killed and wounded beside destroying many military vehicles, we caught their signals calling for help but we prevent them to arrive.”

The battle today Sunday had lasted 6 hours stated early morning, accompanied by heavy air strike and mortar and rocket shelling, but all that had not affected the rebels’ insistence on victory an resisted the regime’s attacks preventing it from regaining the sites were lost days ago during clashed of Yarmouk battle launched 2 weeks ago.

Rebels have destroyed many of the regime’s military vehicles in the last two days using Tow missiles.
