4 SDF fighters killed in clashes with ISIS south of Hasaka


(Zaman Al Wasl)- Four fighters from the U.S.-backed Syria Democratic Forces (SDF) were killed and many injured due to a trap of the Islamic State in the Southern countryside of Hasaka province, activists said Tuesday.

Activist Ahmed al-Ali confirmed that 18 members of SDF and Arab young men mandatorily conscripted within militias of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) have fallen in a trap of the Islamic State when they were in their way to raid a village of Hasaka’s countryside.

Al-Ali mentioned that at least 4 members were killed in the attack and many injured, ambulances headed to the town of al-Hol transfer victims and some of them arrived to the city of Tal-Tamer to the North-West of Hasaka.

The activist mentioned that SDF have discontinued the internet and communication methods to the area.

Aamaq news of the Islamic State reported killing 3 members of the Kurdish militias and others were injured by a bomb in the city of al-Hol to the South-East of Hasaka city.

Al-Ali added that fighting between the Islamic State and Syrian Democratic forces alliance is still in the area between al-Shadadi city and Markada town controlled by the Islamic State in the Southern of Hasaka. The Islamic state requested support and fighters to Markada.

Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG), the military arm of the PYD and the largest ally of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced killing two of its members one of them Turkish, in the clashed around the village of al-Makman Western of al-Shadadi city.

Fighters of PYD had arrested a group of women, 4 of them from the villages of Dardara and Mjaibra to the East of Ras al-Ain, a day before Fitr Eid because they tried to return to their houses after a year of displacement without the Kurdish militias' permission. While Asayish militias have conditioned women to pledge not to return to their houses in order to release them, but women rejected that a waited for their trial.

PYD announced in 2014 foundation of the Kurdish Self Administration which has its own military and security systems, courts and institutions similar to the governmental ones in three regions Ain al-Arab, Efrin and al-Jazeera Northern of Hasaka. (Translation by Yusra Ahmed)
