Rebels kill, wound 25 regime troops in Hama province

(Zaman Al Wasl)- At least 25 regime troops and allied militants were killed and wounded by rebels in new clashes in the southern countryside of Hama province, sources said Wednesday.

Sources told Zaman al-Wasl that a group of entrenched fighters part of the Islamic factions in Homs’ northern countryside attacked at dawn on Wednesday June 13, cities and towns in Homs’ northern countryside and Hama’s southern countryside in response to tens of Russian and regime airstrikes last night.

The source mentioned the entrenched fighters charged a checkpoint in the village of Jadrine, pro regime, west of the town Hirbanafsah, confirming that they managed to kill 6 members of the National Defense at the checkpoint, injure 5 members, seize anti-tank missiles issue 2, light weapons and ammunition.

Sources added that the entrenched fighters withdrew after the end of the attack and they did not lose a single fighter.

Zaman al-Wasl’s sources clarified that the village of Jadrine is considered the most important regime village in the area of Hirbanafsah as they transformed it into military barracks and arm its youth for it to be a center for regime operations and a point from which to bomb Hirbanafsah, al-Zaret, Kisin, al-Ghajar, and the area of al-Houla which Jadrine contributes to the siege of that area.

In the field, regime forces located in al-Zaret electrical power station launched an attack, supported with violent Russian air cover, on the village of al-Zaret and al-Mahata checkpoint in Hirbanafsah. Rebel forces in Homs’ northern countryside and Hama’s southern countryside fought back the attack and managed to kill 5 attackers and injure 15 others, destroy a tank with heat missiles while advancing towards al-Mahata checkpoint.

A fighter with Ahrar al-Sham Movement in Homs’ countryside, mentioned to Zaman al-Wasl’s correspondent that he managed to tap into the regime forces’ communications and the campaign commander demanded an armored vehicle to move the killed and injured.

He added that the rebels moved today from defending to attacking indicating that “the regime failed to achieve any gains,” and it suffered losses in equipment and souls despite the Russian fighter jets assisting the regime forces on the ground.

-The National Defense refuse Orders-

Zaman al-Wasl’s correspondent learned that members of the National Defense, that is a majority within the regime campaign, have started to refuse moving towards al-Zaret and Hirbanafsah due to the increase in the number of dead.

One of the residents of the village of Deir al-Fardis neighboring Hirbanafsah, which regime forces move from, revealed that ambulances are constantly moving the bodies of those killed and wounded.

The resident stated that a Shabiha (regime thugs) group leader executed three youths in the middle of the village square on the basis of fleeing from battle.

-Targeting Pro-Regime Neighborhoods-

In a bid to stop the southern bombing campaign on the besieged villages in Homs’ northern countryside, which led to the death of 3 civilians from one family from al-Rastan, the Islamic Ahrar al-Sham Movement in collaboration with al-Nusra Front, targeted al-Zaret electrical power station with a number of locally made mortar rockets. The attack led to the station going out of service thus increasing the number of hours of power cuts in Homs, Hama, and the Syrian coast according to manager of electricity in Hama province who indicated that the power station sustained extensive damage.

As a response to the increase in regime bombing the northern countryside, Homs’ northern countryside operation room bombed Shabiha strongholds in the city of Homs with a number of Grad rockets.

Pro-regime pages in Homs admitted that 4 rockets landed in the neighborhoods of al-Muhjireen, al-Armen, al-Zahra, and a number of regime supporters sustained various injuries and material damages, and residents were asked to stay in their homes.
