(Zaman Al Wasl)- Huge explosion rocked defense factories on Saturday by a technical damage, factory observatories reported.
The flames from factories called 790 militarily were seen from Saraqib city in Idlib and sounds of the 9 explosions were heard in Aleppo, Hama, and Idlib.
The Sharia Judge for Jaish al-Fateh or Army of Conquest Abdullah al-Muhaysini confirmed the killing of 200 regime personnel and burning of 17 military vehicles and 8 warplanes.
He clarified on his twitter account that the defense factories are the ones killing our children with the barrels they manufacture adding that it is the force of God answering calls of the oppressed which ended up in exploding the barrels’ factories.
Activists on social media circulated few reasons for the explosion in the factories saying the reason was a technical damage in a helicopter which ignited the barrels before the fire reached the rest of the factory.
Others reported the explosion was because of a technical damage in the ovens which produce the explosive barrels whereas others said it is because of a short circuit. Regime forces did not reveal the reasons of the explosions so far.
Medical sources in Aleppo University Hospital told Zaman al-Wasl scores of injured by the explosion were transported to Hama hospitals including civilians from al-Waha area situated near the factories.
The defense factories are located in al-Safira city, 25 kilometers from Aleppo city. Colonel Suhail al-Hasan prepared an airstrip for helicopters in the factories beginning of 2014 following regime forces capture of al-Safira. The factories produced explosive barrels to strike Syrian north especially Aleppo city.
According to field sources in the factories, more than 700 personnel work in the factories and the decision making process is led by Iranian experts who supervise producing the barrels.
Also, the factories manufacture land surface missiles, heavy artillery shells, mortars, and bullets of cannons, rifles, and machine guns. Iranian and Russian experts participate in manufacture of weapons and Syrians are prevented from entering to the ovens and laboratory sections in the factories.
According to leaked data, the defense factories include the following sections; gunpowder warehouses, explosive barrels’ warehouse, the garage, nutrition section, coordinating section, ovens, and airstrip section, the mechanic section, and maintenance section.
Activists call the factories as death factories. Liberated regions in Aleppo, and Idlib witnessed protests celebrating the explosion in the factories which are considered the biggest regime weapons manufacturer.
Rebel factions failed since outbreak of revolution to capture the factories despite capturing al-Safira city near the factories from 2012 until 2014.
Military leaders said the rebels failed due to huge military fortifications of the factories and because they are adjacent to al-Waha residential complex which is a military residence for regime forces and Russian and Iranian experts.
Ahrar al-Sham and other rebel factions in the area targeted defense factories few times with mortars and Grad missiles. No similar explosion has happened in the factories. 80% of the factories were destroyed according to field sources.
