(Zaman Al Wasl)- A well-informed source reported at least 16 Syrian regime troops, including 6 military pilots, were killed and scores injured in Defense Factories explosions on Saturday.
The source added 5 helicopters were burned and injured were transferred to field hospital in the factories’ area whereas critical cases were transported to private Tal Aren hospital.
The source said the increased temperature in the explosive barrels’ warehouse caused the explosions near the helicopters’ airstrip.
Activists estimated hundreds of regime personnel including army officers were killed in the explosions but the source disclaimed that pointing out the regime personnel were killed during firefighting.
The flames from factories called 790 militarily were seen from Saraqib city in Idlib and sounds of the 9 explosions were heard in Aleppo, Hama, and Idlib.
More than 700 personnel work in the factories and the decision making process is led by Iranian experts who supervise producing the barrels.
The factories manufacture land surface missiles, heavy artillery shells, mortars, and bullets of cannons, rifles, and machine guns. Iranian and Russian experts participate in manufacture of weapons and Syrians are prevented from entering to the ovens and laboratory sections in the factories.
According to leaked data, the defense factories include the following sections; gunpowder warehouses, explosive barrels’ warehouse, the garage, nutrition section, coordinating section, ovens, and airstrip section, the mechanic section, and maintenance section.
Liberated regions in Aleppo, and Idlib witnessed protests celebrating the explosion in the factories which are considered the biggest regime weapons manufacturer.
Rebel factions failed since outbreak of revolution to capture the factories despite capturing al-Safira city near the factories from 2012 until 2014.
