(Zaman Al Wasl)- Dozens of casualties among regime forces resulted from battles to regain important sites in Jabal al-Akrad in the countryside of Latakia, when rebels besieged the Shalaf castle and exploded a car bomb among defeated forces in the village of Wadi Basoor.
Activist Majd al-Naji confirmed that more than 40 bodies of regime’s forces and militias are still in the village of Shalaf besides killing large number of soldiers by the car bomb in the village of Basoor, where they stayed after forcing them to leave Kensabba.
In regard to the wounded, the activist confirmed via a phone call with Zaman al-Wasl that ambulances kept for a long time transferring them to hospitals in Latakia city.
Rebels of the countryside of Latakia have launched an attack against the Syrian regime’s forces and managed to regain control of the towns of Kensabba, Shalaf, Shair Kabou, and the castle of Shalaf early morning Tuesday.
Last night, Monday witnessed the heaviest shelling over the countryside of Latakia for months, as the regime and Russian forces had bombed the region with heavy air-strikes accompanied with land and sea shelling, targeting residents of villages and supply routes, using internationally banned weapons.
A commander in the First Coastal Troupe said: “to avoid the heavy shelling, we carried out a surprise attack against the regime forces and fought its forces at close distance, therefore we minimized losses that might have occurred due to the shelling.
The commander who talked on condition of anonymity mentioned that they gain three 4WD vehicles one of them provided with advanced machine gun, beside many anti-tanks rockets and other guns and ammunition.
