Al-Waer Neighborhood: 300 people arrested by regime forces in June

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Well-informed sources said Syrian regime have arrested 300 people from besieged al-Waer in Homs last June.

Media activist in the Civil Association Center Abu Faisal said most of the arrested are seniors and children were taken from the front of the regime-controlled bakery in western al-Waer neighborhood on Homs-Misyaf road while they were getting bread for their families. On average, 5 to 6 persons were arrested daily.

Others were arrested when middle and high school students exited their exams in regime-controlled areas. The youngest of those arrested is 12 years old and he was released two days later whereas the oldest is 85 years old, activist added.

He pointed out that regime checkpoint in al-Waer bakery subordinate to State Security branch installed a camera on the checkpoint broadcasting live for the branch in Homs and the persons are picked and arrested at the bakery.

In related context, Syrian Arab Red Crescent Homs branch in cooperation with UN and International Committee for Red Crescent was able to enter another aid convoy to al-Waer on Monday via 27 trucks carrying food baskets, canned food, medical equipment, children clothes, books, wheel chairs and others.

The aid entered in the two phases respond to the needs of 75 thousand for a month. (Translation by Rana Abdul)
