(Zaman Al Wasl)- Many crimes and offences are being committed in Latakia by militias and Shabiha of different loyalties without any official action to be taken.
A 70-year-old lady was killed in her home in Mashroo’a Salaiba neighbourhood in Latakia, two days before a boy died in a swimming pool because the rescuer refused to jump in water in his clothes. Moreover, dozens were killed and injured of Shabiha’s shooting a week ago celebrating the primary news about coup in Turkey.
Regime-loyal facebook pages report almost daily news about incidents in Latakia like theft, violations of public and private properties in Latakia and countryside. Pages attribute that to the status of lack of lawlessness in the city due to conflict among Shabiha of different loyalties, some of them loyal to al-Assad family and others to influential people in the city and countryside.
Regime-loyal facebook pages accuse security forces of letting these people doing all they want without punishment of preventing them, as they are busy in chasing young men for conscription.
"Jableh news" facebook page demanded officials of the security forces to catch Shabiha and take them to fronts to protect civilians of their bad doings and prevent them from hurting people and doing more crimes, as people have fed up of their acts.
Mohammed al-Sahili, correspondent of Latakia Media Network mentioned that people started calling the police when any incident happens, but usually the security forces come late, and it seems to be intentional to avoid contacting criminals. Moreover, many police forces do not attend when they suspect the crimes could be done by Shabiha.
Al-Sahili mentioned that he asked a Head of a police stations who talked on condition of anonymity about the reason for avoiding chasing criminals, who are known, he said that they are afraid of being hurt as those Shabiha have assaulted many of policemen, especially traffic policemen.
The Head of police station reported an incident: “in the beginning of this months, Shabiha of Demsarkho assaulted policemen of Sheikh Dhaher police station at gunpoint, because they had closed a chalet was used for openly practising of prostitution, we do not be their victims again, all officials know their violations, but they cannot do anything to them”.
Some people think they right can be retrieved by law, they complain against criminals but they wait long time and they do not take their rights in the end. Many attribute that to fear of Judges of Shabiha and complimenting them, while others accuse them of receiving bribery.
Lawyer haidar Shelli noticed that most lawsuits before courts get sorted out between lawyers of criminals and judges who receive huge amount of money monthly from manager of Shabiha groups.
Al-Sahili mentioned that Shbiha’s crimes are not restricted to people only, as they kill each others as well, especially when they disagree on shares of looted goods and competition for the drug and arms trade besides conflict on controlling areas in the city and its countryside.
Two Shabiha groups one of them affiliate to Munther al-Assad, Bashar al-Assad’s cousin and another follows Ayman Jaber had fought last week and many causalities between dead and injured were reported.
