Turkey: 40 Syrian refugee workers suspended by coup supporter

(Eqtsad)- A Turkish factory in the border city of Gaziantep dismissed 40 Syrian workers without giving any reasons, activists said, hinting that the factory owner belongs to the parallel entity and one of the supporters of the coup.

One of the workers, who spoke to Zaman al-Wasl on condition of anonymity, said the factory owner did not give any reasons for the layoffs, but many of the workers are circulating amongst themselves that the reason is Syrians stand with Erdogan in facing the failed coup which took place last week.

It is noteworthy that according to unofficial statistics around 100 thousand Syrian laborers work in Turkish factories and institutions, many of which are owned by persons belonging to Fethullah Gulen’s group accused of staging the coup. (Translation by Rana Abdul)
