Tension rises in Hasaka after Asayish killed pro-regime militant

(Zaman Al Wasl)- A member of pro-Syrian regime Baath Battalions militia was killed by Asayish, the Kurdish security forces, in the northeastern city of Hasaka on Monday, such an act that has sparked tensions between the two factions, activists said.

Activist Abdul-Malik al-Ali from Hasaka media Centre confirmed that clashed between militias of the Syrian regime and member of Asayish took place in the city centre of Hasaka followed killing Abdul-Razzaq al-Saad, a member of Baath battalion by the Kurdish militias.

Activist reported to Zaman Al Wasl that clashed were limited and ended quickly between the two sides, but casualties among civilians and fighters were recorded, added to a state of fear among people forced them to close their shops.

The activist mentioned that tension increased between both sides, especially during the funeral of Baath battalions’ member in the neighbourhood of Masaken al-Mahata.

The commander of National Defense Forces (NDF) mentioned that insurgents have shot indiscriminately in Palestine road in Hasaka led to killing one of our members and injuring two other civilians.

NDF threatened that all members in the militia are tensed an ready to deal with any urgent situations, and sworn of fighting the insurgents and teach them a lesson.
In the southern countryside a man was killed by an exploded mine while driving a motorcycle in Shadadi city.

Militias of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) led by PYD have banned using the internet in their house, it is allowed in only two internet shops.

Tension was recorded in May this year when hand scuffle started between regim forces and Asayish militia in Palestine road in Hasaka, and another fighting happened in the same month after brawl over guarding an examination centre led to many deaths and injuries of both sides besides civilians.

The Democratic union Party (PYD), the Syrian wing of Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), had announced in 2014 foundation of the Kurdish Self Administration which has its own military and security systems, courts and institutions similar to the governmental ones in three regions Ain al-Arab, Efrin and al-Jazeera Northern of Hasaka.

Many forces share controlling Hasaka province like People Protection Units (YPG), the armed wing of PYD which control the widest area of the province, while the Syrian regime control the security areas and military bases and dozens of villages around Hasaka and Qamishli, while the Islamic State controls only the town of Markada.
