Gaziantep: Failed coup affected Syrians in Turkish language centers

(Eqtsad)- There has been a recession in learning Turkish Language among Syrians after the failed coup as it worked on increase their feel of insecurity about their future in the country.

In its tour around institution for teaching Turkish language for Syrians, Eqtsad found that there was an increase in interest in learning Turkish language after the government’s announcement of its intention to grant Syrians the Turkish nationality, but that status has not lasted long as the coup has shacked Syrians’ trust in their settlement in the country.

In her talk to Eqtsad, Director of an institute in Gaziantep held the coup responsibility for spreading fear among Syrians refugees in Turkey especially the reactions to the coup has not ended yet.

In regard to fees, the director mentioned that it costs TYR125 for one level of conversation course which takes 6 levels. While the cost is TYR 375 for each level of TOMER course.

An official in al-Ebdaa institution for teaching and training explained that the situation is temporary as Syrians stopped coming to courses as part of the effect of the coup on Syrians lives in most cities in general, but the situation is going to improve.

On the other hand, Dr. Abdul Rahman Alaf, manager of the Academic Institute for science and Technology rejected the idea that coup has affected the willingness of Syrians to study Turkish language, as he thinks that the Holy month of Ramadan and Eid holiday have the biggest influence on attending Turkish language classes.
