Latakia: rebels pound regime bastions with Grad missiles

(Zaman al-Wasl)- Rebels in Latakia countryside fired few Grad rockets on al-Nabi Yunus Hill, most important Syrian regime location in Latakia countryside on Tuesday. 

They also targeted Majdal Keekha mountain and Ghazaleh hill in Kurds mountain with heavy artillery. Some see the rebels moves as paving way for launch of fourth phase of Yarmouk battle.

Leader in the First Coastal Division said the rebels bombed intensely regime locations in response to regime bombing explosive barrels on Kinsabba, al-Kindeh, al-Najia, and Bidama villages in Kurds mountain during the past two days.

The leader who spoke on condition of anonymity refused to answer question asked by Zaman al-Wasl whether the bombing was to pave way for the fourth phase launch of Yarmouk battle, but he confirmed the battle is ongoing, “we will not stop until we fulfil our set goals to recapture all lost sites by the Russian air force intervention last winter.”

He talked of many difficulties facing rebels in Yarmouk battle. At first comes regime use of modern equipment in observation and monitoring especially the night ones. He pointed out that advisors from Russia observe rebels using internet and Google. They provide regime forces with information to bomb from their observatories in the high mountain and from warplanes.

The Russian air force participates in bombing when regime needs back up, he added.

Activists mentioned regime personnel injured by rebels bombing on Wednesday. The injured were transported to hospitals in Latakia. Also, activists said rebels destroyed regime vehicles and few locations. (Translation by Rana Abdul)
