(Zaman al-Wasl) An intelligence document revealed that the regime managed to recruit an agent to infiltrate rebel groups, gain access to the meetings and plans of these groups, and inform the regime of the content for the regime to take precautionary measures against any attacks.
The document issued from the military intelligence division branch 290, indicated the agent by describing the source without giving any details despite its verbosity about who agent met from the dissident officers and at their helm the Colonel Riyad al-Asaad, the founder and leader of the Free Syrian Army.
The document raised directly to the intelligence division chief’s office, initiated a results of the breach by indicating that the source (and it is the agent himself), was tasked with leading an attack on the regime missile brigade in Mount al-Hass area in Aleppo’s southern countryside.
Branch 290 mentioned that the source was tasked by the revolutionaries with leading a group of 150 persons, to launch an attack. The agent was reassuring that the attack will not be executed without his knowledge and pledged to inform the regime before zero hour.
The intelligence documents listed the name and personal telephone number of someone who belonged to the group that was preparing the attack, and who was communicating with the agent by describing him as a trusted revolutionary leader without realizing the agent’s infiltration.
The document dated 02-09-2012, was not content with these variables but reported from its source information about the rebels’ principle headquarters in the city of al-Bab (Aleppo countryside), with an indication to the name of their leader Abu Asid, his phone number, and a note that he has experience in the manufacturing of explosives.
The document explained that Abu Asid coordinates with the dissident Colonel Fawaz al-Shahabi (it lists his telephone number), and the dissident captain Abu Mahmoud whom the agent was seeking to find his real name.
The document, stamped highly confidential and urgent, reaches in the conclusion of its first page to the most dangerous information which confirms that the regime intelligence has breached the top of the Free Syrian Army pyramid represented by the Colonel Riyad al-Asaad. The information proves that the agent was so trusted that he was in direct contact with al-Asaad.
The document said the source left a few days before its listed date, to Turkey upon the invitation from al-Asaad himself, where they met in the military area in Reyhanli in the presence of Brigadier Basam Aloulou (Aleppo prison’s former manager and the manager of the police academy), a Brigadier nickname Abu Ahmad whom the regime suggested might be the dissident brigadier Malik al-Kurdi.
The intelligence agent reported the content of the meeting and what was discussed about Free Syrian Army plans to attack the defense factories in the area of As-Safira in Aleppo’s southern countryside. The factories supply the regime with large amounts of ammunition and equipment.
