Activists say regime fabricates reports over rebel-held Aleppo fleeing

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Zaman al-Wasl’s correspondent in Aleppo refuted news circulated on pro-regime media outlets, and local and international news agencies about families besieged in Aleppo’s eastern neighborhoods leaving to regime controlled areas visa a humanitarian passage.

The correspondent indicated that all the passages that the regime claimed it prepared with the aim of evacuating civilians from rebel controlled parts of Aleppo are closed. The correspondent confirmed that no cases of people leaving to regime controlled areas have been documented until this point in time.

The correspondent highlighted that regime snipers located all along the demarciation lines between the eastern and western neighborhoods target any moving body.
Activists circulated video recordings showing the passage for Salah el-Din neighborhood empty from civilians. Live rounds shot by the snipers located at the end of al-Shariet street can be heard in the recording.

Official and unofficial pro-regime media outlets published on Saturday July 30, images showing a number of civilians whom they said left the eastern neighborhoods of Aleppo through Salah al-Din crossing to head to regime controlled areas.

Media sources then refuted the truth of this news confirming that the images were caught when humanitarian aid was being distributed to civilians which is confirmed in the image the regime media is circulated as the image shows an aid filled truck with name of the organization distributing the aid on its side.

Following the regime and its militias taking control of Castello road, pro-regime media outlets have previously circulated news and information about the evacuation of tens of families through a humanitarian passage to regime controlled neighborhoods, an issue refuted by the Red Crescent and Zaman al-Wasl’s correspondent.

A source in the Red Crescent, who preferred to not disclose his name, considered in a statement to Zaman al-Wasl that the regime is falsifying truths as part of the media campaign it is launching to appear to keep its commitments before its Russian ally.
In the same context, the Syrian Network for Human Rights warned all civilians in the besieged neighborhoods of Aleppo city of leaving via one of the passages announced by the Russian Minister of Defense and the al-Assad regime, confirming that anyone who leaves through the passages will be subject to accusations from the regime and will be arrested by the security apparatus and perhaps die under torture.

In a report issued on July 30, the network considered that the claimed passages are a major hoax designed for persons to disappear and die, and until now none have been opened and no civilians have passed through them. The report indicated the passages will not be safe for civilians unless they are under the supervision of the United Nation, the Red Cross, and the coverage of independent reporters.

The network suggested the scenario of Homs’ old neighborhoods will be repeated in Aleppo announcing that is documented the disappearance of 750 persons at the hands of the regime following their leaving the besieged neighborhoods in Homs under UN supervision. (Translation by Rana Abdul)
