UN powers agree 'main points' of Syria resolution: envoys

The world's major powers on Wednesday agreed the "main points" of a UN Security Council resolution on destroying Syria's chemical weapons, UN diplomats said.

The draft resolution would allow for sanctions under Chapter VII of the UN charter to be considered if President Bashar al-Assad fails to keep to a Russia-US disarmament plan, the envoys told AFP.
