Naser who lost his legs in regime airstrikes finds hope in local prostheses centre

(Zaman Al Wasl)-Naser, a young man from the Damascus’s Eastern Ghouta had two amputated legs due to mortar shelling that killed his 4 friends and left him with severe injuries forced doctors to amputate his two legs.

Naser revealed that doctors told him when he woke up that they were forced o amputated his two legs, one above the knee and another through the knee because the injury was too bad to treated. He spent almost a year in recovering from his injuries, to start later looking for prosthetic limbs.

It took him 6 months to find a centre in eastern Ghouta specialised in prostheses managed by a physiotherapist and many technicians, to start a new stage of suffering because of his complicated case of two amputations one of them through the knee.

“I had spent 6 months in Farha centre ended up with fixing two prostheses similar to smart prostheses, they started with the legs amputated over the knee then the other”, Naser detailed.

The young man was happy with the outcomes he received after long period of suffering, but it was worth waiting because the expert were studying his condition very well.

Dr. Fayez Orabi responsible for Naser’s case in Farha centre revealed that Naser needed 20 sessions to reach to that perfectly fitted prostheses especially he has two amputation one of them through the knee and the other above the knee. He revealed that Naser is now going though physiotherapy sessions to train on walking with prostheses.

Farha centre for prostheses has launched two years ago with multidisciplinary team consists of a doctor, 3 physiotherapist one of them a sport trainer, medical engineer, many technical trainers, they go through intensive training to reach to required results.
