(Zaman Al Wasl)- Syrian resistance factions on Friday took control of the Artillery School in the battleground province of Aleppo after fierce fighting with regime forces and allied militias, rebel group and activists said.
Fatah Army, or the Conquest Army, said the attack begun with devastating car bomb attack that rocked the School gate, posting photo of the suicide bomber.
On Thursday, the Syrian resistance forces launched new attack to capture the strategic military School from regime army in northern Aleppo.
Rebels launched major offensive early this week three to break siege of the eastern Aleppo where about 250,000 people suffer suffocating blockade.
Regime forces backed by allied militias recaptured territory they lost to rebels in the battleground city on Wednesday in al-Ramouseh area.
The battle for eastern Aleppo, pitting besieged rebels against Syrian, Russian and Iranian-backed forces, has erupted amid a diplomatic vacuum and no sign of a breakthrough in a U.S.-Russian efforts for a deal to unlock a new round of peace talks.
Once Syria's economic powerhouse, Aleppo city has been roughly divided between government control in the west and rebel control in the east since mid-2012.
The United Nations said on Thursday that intensive diplomacy was going on to try to agree a humanitarian pause in the fighting in Aleppo, and it hoped to see an agreement for a comprehensive humanitarian plan in the next few days.
"There is still time, we cannot give up hope. Bear with us and I think in next few days there might be some movement," U.N. Deputy Special Envoy for Syria Ramzy Ezzeldin Ramzy told reporters in Geneva.
Ramzy said U.S.-Russian negotiations were ongoing and the United Nations was still committed to its goal of holding a new round of talks between the Syrian government and opposition toward the end of August.
