The CEO of the Syrian Petroleum Company, Youssef Qablawi, announced the commencement of the first comprehensive overhaul in the history of the Banias Oil Refinery.
The current development plan aims to bring about a qualitative leap in the energy sector by increasing the facility's operational and production capacity.
The overhaul includes a wide range of engineering and technical interventions, most notably the replacement of the reactor, the rehabilitation of the distillation unit and power plant, as well as the modernization of the facility's infrastructure, including buildings, streets, roads, and public safety systems.
Qablawi emphasized that the main objective of this strategic project is to increase the refinery's production capacity from its current level of approximately 80,000 barrels per day to approximately 130,000 barrels per day, representing an increase of nearly 50,000 barrels per day.
This increase is expected to directly contribute to strengthening the local market and securing its needs for essential petroleum products, primarily gasoline, diesel, kerosene, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
The Banias refinery holds immense strategic importance as a cornerstone in securing the country's petroleum products.
These works are being carried out primarily by relying on national expertise and skills, in cooperation with qualified local companies, while also utilizing specialized expertise when needed to ensure projects are completed according to the highest technical standards.
