Latakia Oct.17 (SANA) Kasab border crossing with Türkiye recorded more than 165,000 passenger movements in both directions during the first nine months of this year, as efforts continue to streamline travel procedures and organize arrivals and departures.

The General Authority for Ports and Customs said on Friday that the crossing recorded approximately 89,000 arrivals into Syrian territory and around 76,000 departures. During the same period, approximately 7,000 Syrian citizens voluntarily returned to their homeland through the crossing.

The crossing’s administration continues to improve operational procedures and strengthen staff readiness to speed up the processing of travel formalities, enhance services for passengers, and ensure the smooth movement of travelers between Syria and Türkiye.

During the first seven months of this year, Kasab crossing handled approximately 121,000 passenger movements in both directions, including nearly 5,000 Syrian citizens who voluntarily returned to the country.

The General Authority for Ports and Customs is also implementing several development projects at the crossing, including the modernization of service facilities and the expansion of certain buildings and operational areas. These improvements aim to increase the crossing’s capacity to accommodate growing passenger numbers and freight traffic.
