(Eqtsad)- Hatay Province south of Turkey announced last Tuesday opening the center of Turkish teacher residence in Jumhuriyat street in Hatay for university degree-holding Syrians and resident in Hatay province.
Taher Riju, manager of Syrian Association for Refugee Rights office in Hatay, confirmed to Eqtsad that he visited the registration place and checked out the procedures done by Turkish officials to register Syrians who hold university degrees and vocational education degrees.
Riju said the Turkish authorities demanded they bring the Turkish translated version of the degree and notarize it with a copy of the temporary protection ID and Turkish language proficiency degree if they have it.
In addition to signing a sample of the declaration in Turkish language saying the information and degree presented are not a fraud under accountability and legal responsibility in case proven otherwise.
Regarding registration of such information by Turkish clerks, the engineer Taher Riju said the clerks told him the Turkish government works on establishing a database for skilled Syrians who hold university degrees from Hatay and then contacting persons, interviewing them, and securing them job opportunities.
The vice-chancellery of Antakya in Hatay province had previously registered skilled Syrians who have degrees in medicine, engineering, and education without giving the direct reason of that registration amid predictions of some sources that it is to pave way to naturalize some groups of Syrians which was announced by a number of Turkish officials on many occasions.
In his turn, Mohamed al-Nuaymi, manager of Syrian association for Refugee Rights, clarified that the procedures in registering skilled Syrians correspond with the procedures made by Turkish government recently in preventing to give permission to leave for some skilled Syrians despite they were accepted in resettlement programs announced by some countries to resettle Syrian refugees from Turkey like United States, Canada, Norway and others.
Al-Nuaymi pointed out that Syrian Association for Refugee Rights received many complaints regarding not giving the permission of leave to those who were accepted to resettle in western countries. The complainers expressed their discontent of these procedures which deprived them of their right to resettle in other countries.
Al-Nuaymi confirmed he contacted some parties in the Turkish government and they informed him the government did not issue an official decision regarding this, but they will work to preserve Syrian experts and skilled Syrians to benefit from them and integrating them in the Turkish society instead of them immigrating to EU countries in addition the government will qualify them to build Syria after Assad ouster.
Meanwhile, other sources confirmed to Eqtsad that Turkish authorities started for real conducting interviews to naturalize a number of skilled Syrians in different areas in Turkey like Reyhanli and Kilis which started interviewing a number of doctors, lawyers, and academics to grant them Turkish nationality.
