(Zaman Al Wasl)- Rahaf Ahmad Bakar is not the only for her mother anymore, she got married with the man of her dreams Samer 3 months ago. Rahaf (22) took refuge in Tripoli in Lebanon from Homs western countryside.
When she is supposed to receive congratulations as any bride whom father died and the only child for her mother, instead she received prayers wishing her healing from a deadly disease which she got three days after her marriage ash her mother said.
Her health suddenly deteriorated and was transported to al-Salam hospital in al-Qabiyat to find out she was infected with Hepatitis.
The medical staff in the hospital followed up with her case and treated her and it costed her family a lot. The high cost of the treatment forced her mother and relatives to sell what they have and to borrow money to pay the hospital bill since Rahaf had to stay in hospital for 15 days. When she got better, she left the hospital.
Her mother says, “we had to bring a doctor to the house to follow up with her.” The doctor Fadi was treating her at home regularly. When they did not have any more money to pay for him, he stopped coming.
Her mother added that Rahaf’s health started deteriorating again and she entered in a coma since 15 days. She said, “I was completely speechless and lost.”
Activist Mohamed Qasab, Rahaf’s neighbor, who put a lot of effort to secure Rahaf a treatment by contacting medical bodies in Lebanon said, "I visited Rahaf at home, and unfortunately she only said two words which made me cry with everyone there, she said, “uncle, I do not want to die."
