(Zaman Al Wasl)- Syrian regime security forces raided house of Ali Ferzat, the international cartoonist, saying his all properties have been confiscated in an order issued by the Republican Palace in refer to Bashar al-Assad, neighbors said on Tuesday.

Ali Ferzat, in an official statement posted on his Facebook page, said that his acquaintances reported to him that his house located in Mazzeh in Damascus was stormed by a security patrol consisting of major and 4 personnel broke into his house and seized his house without any official or legal papers.

He added the personnel replaced the lock of the house and according to the source which told Ferzat what happened, the major and 4 personnel did the same in his office and then they went off to ask the residents about the car adjacent to the building.

Ferzat continued the residents in the building asked the security force about their IDs and if they had official and legal papers. These papers are known and signed by 4 institutions. The major told them this is none of your business, we have direct orders from the republic palace.

Ferzat asked whether those represent the state of institution, law and justice or they are armed gang like the one which attacked him in Umayyad Square in central Damascus 2011.

Ferzat who is known with his daring caricatures criticizing Assad was assaulted by regime personnel on August 25, 2011 on his way back from his office. The perpetrators hit his face and fingers and they were saying while hitting him “this is so you learn not to tread on your masters.”
