U.S. Envoy to Syria calls on opposition to cooperate with PYD

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Opposition sources in Syrian National Coalition political body clarified what has been reported about special envoy to Syria Michael Ratney’s request of SNC to cooperate with Kurdish Democratic Union Party PYD.

The sources indicated the traditional meeting focused on the internal situation and political solution in the framework of communication with countries concerned with Syrian crisis and there was a causal discussion of PYD.

Regarding Ratneys call for SNC to cooperate with PYD, the sources said what happened is the American envoy did not ask SNC to cooperate but encouraged SNC to communicate; however, one member in the political body of SNC responded to the American envoy saying, “if PYD dissolved ties with regime and PKK which is listed on terrorism list, we do not have problem just like what happened between al-Nusra and al-Qaeda.”

The member in the political body added asking Ratney, “how do you deal with a party that is involved in terrorism and consider an alley,” and Ratney responded, “we do not acknowledge them legally, but they do not have condition like FSA to provide them with weapons as well as fighting Assad before ISIS.”
