Homs: Regime official threatens to wipe off al-Waer neighbourhood


(Zaman Al Wasl)- Officials of regime have threatened Tuesday that they would intensify attacks on al-Waer neighbourhood in central Homs city if the fighters did not leave the neighbourhood.

Zaman Al Wasl correspondent in Homs mentioned that regime’s forces on barriers have repeated what they heard from Oqab Saker, Head of the State Security branch, especially his threat of demolishing the neighbourhood over civilians if members of the Syrian resistance did not leave the neighbourhood.

People of al-Waer who can communicate with members serving on regime’s barriers revealed that regime is planning to give people notice till next Sunday to leave the neighbourhood because it is going to become a military area. Moreover, they warned students and employees who move in and out the neighbourhood that Sunday would be the last day of free movement.

The correspondent reported that people appeal to the Syrian resistance formation to unite in al-Waer and the countryside and work on facing the regime.

It comes after 12 days of regime’s military attacks on al-Waer led to many death and injuries, while regime’s snipers target civilians at daily basis.

Well-informed sources confirmed that regime is aiming from that military action to pressurise the negotiation committee in al-Waer, the last stronghold of the resistance, to accept its conditions, to reach to an agreement, after 9 month- UN-supported-truce between regime and negotiation committee.

In December 2015, the regime had agreed in a UN-backed- deal
Which force ceasefire and allowing food and medical aid inside the neighbourhood, and releasing the siege ans allow wounded and patients to leave in the first stage.
The second and third stages included releasing detainees while rebels need to hand their arms.

Detainees file is one of the most complicated file include in the deal between regime and negotiation committee, as the regime arrested its members.
