(Zaman Al Wasl)- Islamic State fighters launched major attack on Free Syrian Army units based in the Syrian desert east of Damascus, using car bomb and heavy shelling, local monitor group said.
Ahmed al-Abdo Forces, key unit in the Southern Front alliance, said it had thwarted the attack, leaving 15 ISIS fighters dead, according to Dumeir Local Coordination.
ISIS still control swaths of territory in Badiyet al-Sham, a desert area connects the eastern Qalamoun with ancient Palmyra city and with the Iraqi borders.
