Regime, Kurdish militia ceasefire fails in Hasaka, residents fear clashes renewal

(Zaman Al Wasl)- News about troubles in putting in effect the truce between the Syrian regime and the military arm of the Democratic Union Party which reached to in the Hemaymim Russian military base in the coast.

Activist Mahmood al-Ahmed reported that the Democratic Union party (PYD) accused regime of hiding 10 of his members and refusing releasing them according to the truce reached to last week. Moreover, the Al-Hajana troupe refused to empty the barrack in the middle of the city and demanded PYD of releasing dozens of Baath loyalists whom it arrested in areas of Yarubiyah and Qamishli and al-Thiba town.

The circulated news put people of Hasaka under pressure fearing of renewing clashed between the two sides, amid news about ending the truce this Tuesday August 30.

The activist added that a mutual committee from both sides are supervising putting the truce in effect which states that Syrian regime to hand its sites to the security and police forces, while People’s Protection Units (YPG), the military arm of PYD should hand their sites to Asayish militias, the security wing of PYD.

Moreover, the truce decided the future of the National Defence forces militias in the city besides exchanging detainees of both sides, as well as guaranteeing the regime channels connecting its site in the city with its troupes in the countryside of Hasaka through PYD’s area.

Al-Ahmed mentioned that regime is intending to cease activities of the directorates and faculties of the University of al-Furat in the city after looting most of their contents and raising the flag of Democratic Union Party in them, besides preventing employees from reaching to their work in neighbourhoods of Ghwiran and Nashwa.
Regime media denied any problem in implementing the truce, and confirmed that it is in the final stage and in process to exchange detainees and frequent meeting at daily bases are held to finish the process.

On the other hand, other regime loyal facebook pages reported that what so called “Kurdish “militias” had executed many detainees confirmed to have fought against them, moreover, the Kurdish militias procrastinating in handing the national Defense forces' and Baath loyalist detainees, although the regime has released all the PYD detainees.

Clashes between the Syrian regime and the military and security arms of the democratic Union party (PYD) had broken out August 16, that caused severe destruction to buildings and public institutes, where the Kurdish party controlled neighbourhoods of Nashwa, Layliya and Ghwiran. The regime had for the first time used the its aircraft to hit the PYD military arm.
