(Zaman Al Wasl)- Civil Defense groups in Latakia countryside and Idlib countryside warned of the danger of unexploded cluster bombs spread intensively in the orchards and forests as many injuries were recorded.
The Russian and Assad warplanes dropped thousands of cluster bombs on Latakia and Idlib countryside, but huge number of the bombs did not explode to remain hidden ticking bombs amid grass in forests and farms which increases its danger.
Field hospitals recorded several cluster bombs injuries caused amputation of limbs of civilians including Abu al-Ward in Kanssaba village in Latakia countryside who said, “I wanted to go hunting when we captured Kanssaba and as I was walking in the forest, a bomb exploded under my feet. But God’s mercy saved me and I had a medium injury in my leg.”
In contrast, a hidden cluster bomb exploded under child Ahmad feet leading to amputation of his feet as he was pasturing sheep in a nearby forest. Also, his friend got injured in his hand by the same explosion.

There are experts in the fighting military factions in Latakia countryside who tackle the unexploded missiles and bombs. They disintegrate the bombs or explode it in a distance. The factions had called for family to be careful when walking in orchards and forests and requested to be informed of any unfamiliar body they see.
Yousef al-Ahmad, an expert in demining said to Zaman al-Wasl, “we dismantled hundreds of cluster bombs and missile which did not explode. They were dropped by regime and Russian warplanes. We work continuously to inspect the areas where bombs might be to protect the civilians.”
Along with the big role of the Civil Defense groups, they extended their mission to deal with unexploded bombs and distributed pamphlets on civilians to raise awareness against bombs and requested to be informed if any is seen.
Labib, civil defense officer, pointed out that Civil Defense cooperated with experts in Free Syrian Army to deal with big numbers of the unexploded bombs.

Experts released information indicates widespread of mines which do not have maps in addition to thousands of unexploded cluster bombs spread in liberated areas and even in regime-held areas. Regime soldiers had got injured by explosion of some of these bombs.
With the continuation and increased use of Russian warplanes and regime cluster bombs, the number of unexploded bombs increase. It also consumes a lot of efforts for workers in this filed and puts more burden on populations who do not know anymore which danger to avoid in the light of a regime that targets them with its allies with all types of weapons without caring about internationally prohibited weapons like cluster bombs and Napalm.
