Rebels kill 3 army commanders in Hama province

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Syrian opposition forces killed 3 top regime commanders in Hama province, activists said.

Resistance factions push towards the regime-held city by capturing a group of towns and villages adjacent to it inflicting major loss in regime ranks which failed to thwart the attacks.

Last Friday, rebels downed a regime attack helicopter  Hama province, killing two military pilots. The Gazelle helicopters was hit by a U.S.-made TOW missile near Rahabat Khattab base northwest of Hama city.

This week, most rebel-areas of Hama province came under heavy air attack as regime forces sought to counter a major rebel attack.

The resistance forces thrust in Hama marks a new challenge to Assad and his allies in a part of Syria where he has tried to consolidate his grip on power against a more than five-year-old revolution.

The attack that began on Tuesday is the biggest coordinated rebel offensive in Hama province since 2014, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitoring group.
