Reporting by Tareq Hajbakri

(Eqtsad)- An official in the Public Directorate of Electricity in Latakia revealed that Russian companies intend to install electricity generators to supply the Latakia and Tartus provinces with electricity.

In a relevant content, officials sources mentioned that the province of Latakia has signed contracts with Russian investing companies to manage tourism in the coastal area and Mesiaf city.

In details, the Directorate of Electricity in Latakia announced that Russian companies were intending to invest in electricity sector in the coastal area especially Tartus and Latakia to supply both cities, and to distribute electricity according to Amber system to houses and factories on demand, and the cost would be according to consumption.

The directorate has not mentioned in they had agreed on the suggestion or the companies are going to deal with residents and factories straight away without agreement from the responsible bodies. Residents see in that choice a real solution to their suffering with lack of electricity that the government has failed to sort.

The Ministry of Electricity has before rejected similar projects suggested by Syrian businessmen claiming that electricity is a public interest and the ministry would not accept and privatisation of this sector.

In regard to tourism, the province of Latakia has signed long-term contracts with Russian tourism companies to invest in the beaches of the city besides wide mountainous area in the cities of Solonfa, Jableh, Kasab, and the town of Kerdaha, in order to build hotels and chalets according to conditions dictated by companies and supported by security figures and members of the presidential Palace.

Many see these contract are nothing more that suppression contracts, and they do not bring any benefits to the country. Teacher Moad al-Ali see in these contracts nothing more than an economic occupation that would push the Syrian investors out of the country, which shows that Russian ambitions in Syrian are limitless.

Engineer Borhan Saad confirmed that enforcing unfair investment conditions are the other face of the military occupation of Russia that controls the Syrian coast . “it is a plain selling of Syria to Russian mafia”
