Coalition Ambassador to Doha clarify inner disputes in the first Opposition Embassy

Syria's opposition Ambassador to Doha expressed his sorrow for the collective resignation by 4 employees including the consul last week.

Mr. Nizar al-Heraki described the resignation of Consul Omar Idlebi with other three employees as “ a surprising act", as he met them just a day or two before.

In a statement obtained by Zaman Alwasl, the Ambassador explained that he talked to them openly and transparently about rumors, and he thought the matter ended at that time, however it seems it has just started. He added that the resignation is regrettable especially it came in a time when the Embassy and the Syrian School face tendentious campaign”

Al-Heraki expressed his surprise about that unexplained campaign, despite regular communication with them and answering all their queries. “Moreover the campaign came in time we think we have achieved a new milestone in opening the Syrian school in Qatar "

The Ambassador correlated the resignation with that fierce campaign. He thinks that the root of it, is a female employee who was fired and she is in contact with people who are circulating the rumors.

Al-Heraki denied the claim that Embassy has threaten a journalist, despite the Embassy has the right to filed a lawsuit against any one defames it and fabricates false charges. ‘We contacted that person who claimed to be a journalist, and invited him to the Embassy to ask whatever he wants in a professional and impartial way and he can publish and disseminate the answers anywhere he wants, however it seems that he only wanted to mess up, otherwise he would have come and listen to our opinion”, he explained.

The Ambassador deprecated claims of mistreating the Embassy’s attendees, especially it came from Omar Idlbi, who was the consul and it was up to him to deal with consular affairs and mistreatment complaints, but surprisingly, he has resigned over such a reason..

“The consul is responsible for this matter, therefore he can held accountability for employees who proves to mistreat attendees, why he did not do his job, and hold responsibility instead of resigning and inciting others, assuming those claims are correct.”

In a reply to a query about delaying Visas, al-Heraki said: “idlbi who has the answer he was the consul and responsible for that”

In regard to appointing Abdul Qader al-Khatib, Moaz al-Khatib’s brother, the Syrian ambassador in Doha said that he was appointed regardless of the friendship between himself and his brother “Mouaz”, former coalition president.

“Abdul Qader’s competence and experience were the criteria to evaluate him and appoint him. According to his CV and other submitted documents, he hold three university degrees , including the Diploma of Education, he has extensive experience in management of educational institutions and schools, he is a member of the many educational, charity and other civil society organizations known widely. He is an intellectual and writers who has a range of publications in education and Shariah, all those experiences are documented with official certificates. Despite all that he is under probation for three months” al-Heraki detailed.

Commenting on rumors in regard to the teachers’ selection and appointing, al-Heraki explained that a a specialized committees of honest academic skilled volunteers, including universities professors and school teachers were responsible for choosing teachers.

“Teachers have undergone written and oral tests, then they were accepted according to the criteria and conditions set in advance by the committee, the embassy did not interfere in any stage, apart from facilitating a logistical issues and communicate with applicants and arrange lists via a coordinator, beside budget for accommodation, rent centers to interview and travel for the committees members, and other thing to help committees to do their job at high level of transparency and integrity” the Ambassador said.

Al-Heraki said that no one was excluded as far as he is aware, unless they did not meet the criteria. He confirmed that the school was open a day before, and the National Anthem and Revolution flag were raised.

Al-Heraki says that Syria Embassy in Doha is the only Embassy was able to issue three thousand family visit and endorse 700 certificates and documents, and it helped in releasing many detainees who were about to be deported from Qatar and helped most who seek support.
