Document: regime recruited senior retired army officers in military brigades

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Documents obtained by Zaman al-Wasl revealed that Baath Party branch in Homs recruits in regime forces’ ranks persons whose age exceed retirement age including persons with 66-years-old in order to compensate for the losses of the regime.

A document released by Baath branch in Homs clarifies that recruitment in military brigades is done by contracts and with official salaries and shifts schedules.

In those brigades, there are retired military officers with high ranks. Some of them were 66-years-old and they were allocated a monthly salary of 10000 SP and were armed with individual weapons.

Another document shows the regime contracted with 21 retired officers from different regions in Homs province without clarifying the place of their work or the missions assigned to them accurately.

Baath national leadership with the outbreak of the Syrian revolution in 2011 has instructed its branches in provinces to form armed brigades following short training to use weapons. The mission of these brigades at first was to protect party headquarters, but later the brigades were assigned to establish checkpoints. After that, regime used the brigades in its battles due to great shortage in its ranks and increase of number of killed soldiers and personnel.
