(Zaman Al Wasl)- Syrian opposition forces thwarted regime attack on the town of Maerdis in central Hama province, taking captive 20 soldiers and destroying several armored vehicles, local media center said Wednesday.
The regime military backed by Shiite militias waged major attack on the town of Maerdis and neighboring villages early Wednesday, three week since it fell to rebels favor.
20 soldiers and militants were taken captive as well as 4 tanks had been destroyed, Hama Media Center said.
In their turn, rebels have pounded Hama military airport and regime strongholds with Grad missiles. No causalities reported.
