Iraqi Government demands cessation the return of Iraqi refugees from Hasaka

(Zaman Al Wasl)- The Crossing point of Si-Malka between Syria and Iraq has prevented almost 1500 Iraqi refugees in Syria from passing back to Iraq under orders of the Iraqi government.

Manager of the International human Rights Organization office in Syria, Farhan Saleh Turkey mentioned to Zaman al-Wasl that administration of Si-malka crossing point had stopped the process of transportation around 1500 Iraqi refugees from the camps in al-Hol eastern Hasaka and Rooj in Khan al-Jabal in al-Malikeyah to the Iraqi province of Salah Eddin claiming that order from the central Iraqi government demanded doing so, therefore the third stage returning the Iraqi refugees has been postponed.

Turkey added: “we have contacted some officials and they explained that reasons behind cessation the operation of transporting the refugees is possible military operation at the route of Sharqat”

The manager reported that less of half refugees in al-Hol camp have been transported to Iraq in 2 stages first one included 1200 people and the second 1850 people. He mentioned that the humanitarian situation is devastating inside the camp due to lack of the international support and humanitarian organizations’ aid.

The process of returning the Iraqi refugees from the two camps in the countryside of Hasaka to Iraq has started in August 2016, it faced the same problem in September 3, when people were denied access through the crossing point of Si-malka then they were allowed to pass in September 6.

The Kurdish self-Administration had opened the camp of al-Hol last April to host Iraqi refugees run away from clashes in inside Iraq an stuck at the Iraqi-Syrian boarders. They reached the camps in 3 batches reaching to 8000 people most of them women and children. Another 3000 people settled in the camp if al-Rooj in the village of Khan al-Jabal in the countryside of Hasaka.
