(Zaman al-Wasl) Informed sources confirmed the truce between the al-Assad regime and al-Waer neighborhood’s Negotiation Committee in Homs is being executed as the second wave formed of 100 of the neighborhood’s people will be evacuated on Monday.
Speaking to Zaman al-Wasl, the source said the Committee published a clarification regarding, “completing the evacuation to Homs’ northern countryside,” where it explained that the agreement is to evacuate 200 fighters with their families.
It mentioned that there is a possibility of evacuating 100 people on Monday, indicating that the committee calls on those, “wishing to leave” to register in al-Walid hospital on Saturday evening and Sunday morning.
This second evacuation comes 3 days after the first group were evacuated from al-Waer on Thursday heading to al-Dar al-Kabirah town that is situated 4 kilometers north west of Homs city. In this previous evacuation, 300 people from residents and revolutionary fighters with connections to residents in Homs’ countryside were allowed to leave al-Waer with guarantees from the regime which controls al-Dar al-Kabirah road.
Previous attempts to evacuate the group to Idilb failed due to issues pertaining to the security of the road to northern Syria after the Russians in Hmeimim base told United Nations personnel that the road is unsafe. At that time, the regime offered the Negotiation Committee the Red Crescent as an alternative to the United Nations but the Negotiation Committee refused.
The United Nations refrained from supervising the evacuation operation on Thursday from al-Waer neighborhood indicating it would not be an accomplice in to the forced displacement process.
