HASAKA (Zaman al-Wasl)- Masked armed groups subordinate to Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) launched during the past two days arrest and storming campaigns of Free Syrian Army (FSA) personnel and defected army officers in Hasaka southern countryside. The arrests extended to groups of civilians and politicians in the eastern and northern countryside, local sources reported.
Activist Ahmad al-Ali said a group of PYD armed men launched arrest campagins in al-Shadadi town and villages of al-Hariri, al-Gariri, al-Awad, al-Gars, al-Sheikh Osman, Adla, and Jarmz Shamali in Hasaka southern countryside. The campaign was after FSA former fighters.
The activist clarified that at least 8 people were arrested in the surrounding of al-Shadadi and most of them were former members of FSA, pointing out that the rumor spread fast between the population that arresting those was to prevent them from coordination with Turkish army in case the army planned a military operation in al-Jazira.
The arrests extended to a group of civilians in Jazaa, Arkasha, Safaneh, al-Dabu, Abu Manasib, and Hanweh Abbas al-Hamad areas south of Qamishli, according to al-Ali.
On his part, Mohamed al-Farahan, member of the General Coordination of Kurdish Reform Movement-Syria, told Zaman al-Wasl that unknown armed group has kidnapped Waleed Farman, member in the executive office of the movement in Malkiye, clarifying that around 9 a.m. on Sunday Farman was kidnapped while he was distributing pamphlets for the local council with Fuad Ibrahim, the representative of youth movement in al-Malkiye.
He added that they hold Asayish PYD party accountable for kidnapping their colleague because it is the only party that claims to protect civilians in the city.
Also, a masked group kidnapped member of the Regional Committee in Kurdistan Democratic Party in Syria Abdi Shanki on Monday on the road connecting al-Malkiye and Ramylan, according to sources in the party.
Leader in Kurdistan Democratic Party-Syria Omar Ismail said, “Kidnapping Abdi Shanki by PYD masked armed group on Tal Aswad checkpoint when he was returning form al-Malkiye around 11 a.m.”
PYD had arrested on August 15 Secretary of the Political Office of Kurdistan Democratic Party-Syria Mohamed Ismail and member in the office Nashaat Zaza and members in the executive committee Abdul Kareem Haji and Nafi Abdullah and a group of the party staff on the road Rmyalan-Qamishli during their participation in funeral of Habib Qadri in Syrian Peshmerga on Si Malka cross point near Iraqi borders.
