Syrian resistance thwarts regime offensive in Aleppo, takes ground from ISIS

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Free Syrian Army backed by Turkey has Tuesday controlled the strategic village of Turkman Bareh northern countryside of Aleppo, after severe battle with the Islamic State. Moreover, the opposition managed to stop and attack of the Syrian regime forces and supporting militias at the axis of Sheikh Saeed southern of the besieged neighbourhoods in Aleppo.

Zaman al-Wasl correspondent mentioned that the resistance has advanced in the Northern countryside of Aleppo and regained control over the village of Keeba.
Moreover, armed formations of Free Syrian Army participated in Euphrates Shield has carried on advancing and control the village of Turkman Bareh.

However, Ali Shiekh Saleh the military Commander of the Sultan Murad FSA group had been killed in the battle of Turkman Bareh against the Islamic State.

Since August 24 this year, the Syrian opposition backed by Turkey have started advancing toward the Northern countryside of Aleppo and controlled villages next to Dabiq, the Symbolic village of the Islamic State, as it has the same name of the online English-language magazine “Dabiq”, that speaks in the name of Islamic State.
However, Islamic State has heavily mined the area especially around the Turkman Bareh which was successful in slowing advancing toward the village.

Russian and Syrian warplanes has kept bombing besieged neighbourhoods in Eastern Aleppo, killing 15 civilians at least, added to dozens of injuries, many of them in critical condition.

The Syrian regime and Russian warplanes have bombed the besieged area of Aleppo with thousands of raids in 10 days at an average of 1 in 4 of these raids contain cluster, jolting, phosphorous and vacuum bombs.

Medical sources reported that more than 500 civilians were killed including 100 child, 2000 civilians at least were injured with variable degrees of injuries. Many victims were amputated due to lack of medical equipments in hospitals.

Syrian regime forces have begun a ground attack on besieged rebel-held east Aleppo, as they are planning to retake the whole of the city.

Aleppo has been divided since 2012 into government and rebel sectors, regime forces have besieged the opposition areas they aim to capture the whole city.

After 5 years of multi-sided war, hundreds of thousands of people have been killed and 11 million, half of Syria's pre-war population, have been displaced.
