Head of Higher Justice council, General prosecutor killed in Atmeh’s bomb blast

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Head of Higher Justice Council, General prosecutor and a leader of Harakat Ahrar al-Sham and 26 people  have been killed and dozens wounded in an explosion Thursday at the Syria-Turkey border crossing of Atmeh. 

Activists confirmed that Khalid al-Sayyed, Head of Higher Justice council and Mohammed Faraj, the General Prosecutor have been killed in the explosion as they were in their way to Jarablus to found a civil court. Moreover,  activist reported the death of Shiekh Hisham Khalifa, leader in Harakat Ahrar al-Sham in the explosion. 

Medical source in the hospital of Atmeh confirmed that 26 people were killed and dozens wounded most of them in critical unstable  condition.

 Sources detailed that civilians and fighters were among who were killed, most of them were from a group called Failaq al-Sam and  they were in their way to the village of al-Raee to re-position as preparation for the battle against the Islamic State. 

Atmeh barrier is one of the most important crossing point used by the Syrian resistance to move between Idlib province, through Turkey, to areas of Aleppo province along the border where the fight against the Islamic State taking place. 

The barriers is used to evacuate wounded fighters and deliver aid. 

the Islamic State claimed responsibility for the bomb blast.
