Syrian resistance says UN's de Mistura biased, wants him expelled

(Zaman Al Wasl)- International envoy to Syria Steffan de Mistura demand to expel Fateh al-Sham Front from east of Aleppo was received with resentment from a big number of Syrian resistance forces working in the Syrian north in addition to political and service institutions in the Syrian opposition.

The UN envoy to Syria justified his demand saying, “the front’s expulsion from the city will decrease the loss of civilians’ life.”

Sources in Syrian resistance denounced de Mistura’s demands asking for his resignation since he became “a representative for Assad and behind him Khamenei and not a representative of UN.”

In the same context, Ahrar al-Sham military spokesman rejected de Mistura’s demands. He told Zaman al-Wasl that the response to de Mistura will be similar to factions’ rejection before for the acclaimed truce without including the front. He stressed not to accept these demands at all.

Abu Yousef al-Muhajir justified not accepting de Mistura’s demands saying, “if we agreed to expel Fateh al-Sham from Aleppo today, Ahrar al-Sham will be the next and later all factions.” In his part, spokesman of al-Jabha al-Shamiye General Mohamed al-Ahmad told Zaman al-Wasl, “de Mistura is way out of his role as a UN enovy in this statement because it is his responsibility to protect civilians in conflict areas and this he never did.”

Al-Ahmad accused the UN envoy of participating in forced displacement of the Syrian population in many areas as taking the side of the killer and criminal against the victim. Al-Ahmad condemned de Mistura’s stand since he is giving more legitimacy for more killing without mentioning any of the terrorist gangs which fight with the regime coming from Iran, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Iraq and others.
Syrian resistance factions including Faylaq al-Sham abstained from releasing statements regarding this issue.

Member in political office of Nur al-Din al-Zinki Movement Yaser al-Yousef told Zaman al-Wasl that “the UN envoy since the very beginning of his mission does not know what he wants as his projects and statements are contradictory.”

Al-Yousef indicated that de Mistura wanted to freeze fighting from neighborhood to Salah al-Din street to his latest statement trying to give legitimacy to crimes of regime and Russian including forced displacement.

Al-Yousef described the statement of de Mistura as irresponsible since it is outside of the UN convention and it disclaims its responsibilities in protecting civilians.
Al-Yousef questioned how much de Mistura is able to secure protection for exit of Fateh al-Sham personnel and at the same time protecting civilians in their homes.

An official source in Syrian resistance expected that a collective statement will be released in response to UN envoy to Syria Steffan de Mistura pointing out that the renewing fighting in the military field between for Syrian opposition between Ahrar al-Sham and Jund al-Aqsa might postpone the release of this statement.
