A 22-year-old Syrian suspected of planning a bomb attack in Germany has been arrested, police said Monday.
Jaber al-Bakr was captured in the eastern city of Leipzig on Sunday night, Saxony state police said on Twitter.
Police launched a massive manhunt Saturday after finding several hundred grams of “highly volatile” explosives at his apartment in Chemnitz, about 85 kilometers (53 miles) south of Leipzig.
Investigators believe that al-Bakr had ties to Daesh and was planning to attack one of Berlin’s airport, local media widely reported.
