(Zaman Al Wasl)- The Shiite militias have encircled the Old City of Damascus to celebrate Ashura rituals, local activists said Tuesday.
The Lebanese and Iraqi militants circulated on residents of old Damascus to enter on Tuesday before 6 p.m. for cars due to closed roads until Wednesday afternoon to celebrate the last days of Ashura.
Activists added that the neighborhoods of al-Ammen, al-Shagoor and Ruqyya are under heavy security presence from foreign personnel who inspect the IDs of the passersby.
Also, the militias closed the high roads in al-Muhajereen neighborhood to celebrate and receive Shiite delegates who want to celebrate in Zein al-Abdeen neighborhood.
The activists pointed out that an Afghan delegate arrived in the area of the Umayyad Mosque and Damascus citadel reaching to Ruqqaya and they also inspect the IDs of passersby and banned residents of al-Midan and al-Salhiye to enter al-Amarra neighborhood.
