(Zaman Al Wasl)- Muslims around the world celebrate the religious day of Ashura as a commemoration of the death of the Prophet Muhammad’s grandson Imam Hussein. Ceremonies of this day are practiced in a bizarre and bloody way, in which men punish themselves and cause pain to themselves even sometimes they cut their children or infants as part of the ceremony.
A video surfaced on the internet for a baby covered with blood and the medical crew trying to treat him. It was claimed that the infant was injured deliberately by his father as part of Ashura celebration in Karbala city in Iraq.
However, it was noticed recently that ceremonies associated with Ashura have been criticised by Shiite figures. Hassan Nasrallah has highlighted the matter in his speech before three days in Ashura’s celebration and expressed his disagreement with these bloodily acts.
Some observer expected that trend has been adopted due to orders by the Iranians, as an attempt to regain some of the section’s reputation, as it has become connected to wilayet al-Faqih and blindly following his orders.
