Displaced people in 'Kulna Sawa' camp suffer lack of aid, support

Reporting by Orwa al-Sousi

(Eqtsad)- The regional manager of the Syrian General Body for Refugees, Moayad Shakir, directed a call to all local and foreign aid organizations working to quickly and urgently intervene to provide the support needed to the residents of Kula Sawa, (All of us Together) Camp in Idlib province.

The displaced number has rapidly increased as people flee ISIS-held areas in eastern Aleppo countryside.

Eqtsad spoke to Shakir about the humanitarian situation in All of us Together camp and inquired about its residents’ living conditions. Shaker explained that the camp currently hosts 50 families and the number is increasing after Idlib province and its countryside have become the first point of migration for internally displaced Syrians from different parts of Syria.

More people are arriving especially as the circle of fighting in northern Syria is expanding and it is approaching ISIS held areas which has pushed hundreds of families to walk to resistance held areas and of them Idlib’s countryside.

Shakir added that the camp which was established 3 months ago, lacks basic necessities required by humans and all the assistance local organizations and associations have presented to the camp until now are insufficient to meet the basic needs or residents in terms of electricity, drinking water, food products, bedding, blankets, and cooking utensils. There is also a lack of any education facilities or psycho-social assistance for children and families.

With the approach of winter, camp residents are in need of winter clothing, blankets, heaters, wood or fuel to operate them, and insulation. Some of the tents need repairing before rain and snow fall or flooding begins in the area.

Regarding the health conditions of camp residents, Shakir explained that most of the people living in the camp are elderly, women, children, and patients. They can access medical services and treatment in clinics close by such as the Red Crescent clinic in close by Ma’arrat Misrin.
