(Zaman Al Wasl)- Several students from Uqba Bin Nafi School entered hospital on Monday because of an assault by father of student Hisham al-Khateeb with a group of persons with white arms.
The assault on the students caused severe bruises and one student was injured by a knife in his waist and was transferred to intensive care in Tartus National Hospital.
This assault came after a fight between student Hisham al-Khateeb and his classmate. Hisham was pissed off because it was in front of girls in the school according to a high school student.
-Collective assault-
The student added that Hisham’s father came with a group of thugs to the front of the school when school time was over. They started assaulting all high school students without exception and the school management did not interfere. They closed the door of the school and neither the principal nor the teachers exited until the perpetrators left.
The assault lasted for half an hour without any police or security coming to the event and the perpetrators left without any questioning.
Mira Ahmad described the assaulters as ISIS inside and added, “why my sister is crying again because her friend was struck with a knife and she was terrified. Why if ISIS did not finish us over, these thugs will. How come this animal assaults the school and brings his men to assault children. It is time that we give attention to these issues.”
In his turn, teacher reported that school principal Ghassan Hamad commented on what happened saying, it is only a fight between students and no need to call the police. We do not have to make the province busy with silly matters.
The teacher added, “the principal said that we cannot confront those people and most of them are from National Defense or security.”
-Repeated Assaults-
This is not the first incident where an assault happened on students in Tartus Province. Ali Abu Hasan brought to mind an incident that happened between two students in the fourth grade beginning of the year when one of the parents of the children interfered and he was security officer. He interfered to bring back his child’s lost dignity according to what he said to school management back then. All students in the class were punished and the other student was hit by the security officer directly.
Ahmad Qasim attributed what is happening in school to the general chaos and corruption as well as absence of school monitoring, fear, and distrust in the state. The society turned into a forest. You can buy director of education with money.
It should be noted that thugs’ assaults on schools is widely spread especially in mixed schools or girls’ schools where security personnel and National Defense personnel start showing off in front of students with new cars and motorcycles in Tartus, Safita, al-Derekeesh, and most villages. Usually the show turns into challenging games to end with accidents of fights.
