450 displaced in northern Idlib province have no water

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Residents of al-Bunyan al-Marsos refugee camp in Idlib province have been suffering absence of water since a week as a charity who pays for water pumping has cut funding.

The 450 displaced who mostly fled
from al-Akrad and al-Turkman mountains due to Russia's aerial bombing from Latakia province, do not have the means to run the water pumping and get water.

They lived in a makeshift camp in Obeen village before regime forces and Russian air force targeted them to displace them again by bombing their new camps on the Turkish borders.

They sought refuge in an area further from the regime locations to feel safe and they did. However, they did not secure water and food. Today they suffer from water cut and have to bring water from far areas to use it for drinking only.

Camp Manager Abdul Jabar Khaleel said two organizations provide drinking water for two neighboring camps but they refused to provide water for this camp despite that the number of people living in the camp is less than the other two.
Khaleel indicated that he might have to get individual donations to provide water for the camp.

He added that Latakia Local council is totally absent from the camp’s people plight and the council did not offer any service or aid to this camp although the council has the means to provide water.

The camp residents protested on Friday demanding water and asking why organizations and province council disregard their needs.

Their suffering is not limited to lack of water but also the camp is situated on an agricultural land and water and mud might flood the camp during winter.
